The Park’s First Tree

In October of 1858, the very first tree was planted in Central Park.

It was the first of many – today, over 20,000 trees thrive. They are one of the most important parts of the Park, providing a sense of calm and serenity that is indispensable in this bustling city.

But like every aspect of our beloved Central Park, they require meticulous care to remain healthy in the face of astonishingly high visitation and the constant wear and tear of urban life. Your tax-deductible donation today will go towards the maintenance, restoration, and enhancement of the trees and every part of the Park – keeping it beautiful now and for many years to come.
