Great Jazz on the Great Hill
|
Saturday, August 18, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Central Park Conservancy and Jazzmobile, Inc. present a summer jazz concert! Bring your picnic blanket for an afternoon of live music and outdoor fun.
Steve Kroon will start off the program with Latin Jazz music, followed by vocalist Alyson Williams, winner of the reknown Jazzmobile Vocal Competition. The evening's performance will culminate in a performance of Wycliffe Gordon with a special tribute to Louis Armstrong. You will be led through the evenings performances by emcee Robin Bell-Stevens.
Make a unique eco-postcard inspired by jazz musical instruments in a hands-on workshop for families (Ages 4+) led by community artist Iandry Randriamandroso. Just walk over to the family area on the concert ground, design your own eco-postcard, and take some unique concert memorabilia home with you.
Forgot your picnic? Buy your dinner directly at the event from local food truck vendors: Bongo Brothers NYC Cuban Food Truck, The Morris Truck, and Van Leeuwen Artisanal Ice Cream Truck.
All ages are welcome. Free; no advance ticketing. For more event information, call 212-860-1370.
If you enjoy jazz, don't miss the panel discussion of vocalist from Jazzmobile's Jazz Vocal Competion on August 16, 2012.
